Iconix Brand Group acquires Umbro from Nike, Inc.

Iconix Brand Group signed a pertinent agreement on the acquisition of internationally renowned Brand Umbro and related intellectual property assets from NIKE, Inc. for USD 225 in cash

Unbenannt119Umbro® ist the original global football (soccer) brand, it was founded in 1924 and today the brand combines its British heritage with a modern football lifestyle to create iconic sports apparel and footwear.

Iconix owns 29 consumer brands in the fashion, athletic, electronic, entertainment and home industries. With this acquisition, the Company’s brands will generate approximately USD 13 billion in retail sales globally, with over USD 2.5 billion attributable to the Company’s portfolio of athletic brands, which also includes Starter and Danskin. The transaction marks Iconix’s second deal with NIKE, as it purchased the Starter brand from them in 2007 and brought the acquisition to flourish under its leadership.

 

The Iconix Brand Group portfolio of consumer brands include CANDIE’S, BONGO®, BADGLEY MISCHKA ®, JOE BOXER ®, RAMPAGE®, MUDD®, MOSSIMO ®, LONDON FOG ®, OCEAN PACIFIC ®, DANSKIN®, ROCAWEAR®, CANNON®, ROYAL VELVET®, FIELDCREST®, CHARISMA®, STARTER®, WAVERLY®, ZOO YORK ®, SHARPER IMAGE®, all of those it owns.
