Finnish Ahlstrom will revise its organisation

Ahlstrom (high performance materials) will revise its organisation – but not the adopted business model – effective January 1, 2013

Currently the company has four business areas: Building and Energy, Filtration, Food and Medical , Label and Processing. We have reported that the specialty paper businesses, operated under the Label and Processing business area, will be combined with Munksjö AG and the transaction is scheduled to be completed in two steps during the first and second quarter of 2013.

To enable stronger focus on the filtration markets, the current filtration business area will be divided into two business areas, namely Transportation Filtration and Advanced Filtration, therefore as of January 1, 2013 the business activities of Ahlstrom will be as follows: Building and Energy (a leading global player for materials used in wall coverings, floorings and windmill blades); Transportation Filtration (global leader in transportation filtration materials); Advanced Filtration (global leader in transportation filtration materials); Food and Medical (one of the leading global players for materials used in teabags, food packaging, masking tape and medical gowns and drapes). These four businesses will form the new reporting segments – subject to approval by the extraordinary General Meeting of the demergers of Ahlstrom Corporation on November 27, 2012 – and the Label and Processing business area will be reported as part of discontinued operations.

Due to all these facts also the Executive Management team is undergoing changes: Tommi Björnman, Executive Vice President, Filtration, has decided to resign from Ahlstrom to pursue other career opportunities, however he will continue in his current role until the end of 2012. He joined Ahlstrom in 1996 and has been a member of the Executive Management Team since 2005. Fulvio Capussotti (40), M.Sc.(Chemical Engineering; and being with the company since 2002 in various senior management positions, currently he leads the Advanced Filtration business) has been appointed Executive Vice President, Advanced Filtration , and member of the Executive Management team, he will be reporting to Jan Jang, President and CEO as of January 1, 2013. The new Executive Vice President for Transportation Filtration and also member of Ahlstrom Executive Management Team will be soon announced.
