Hispanic Heritage Month in America

In America live nearly 51 million Hispanics and from September 1 5 to October 15, Americans of all ethnicities honour the contributions of American Latinos

Amway, according to in-house information, one of the largest direct selling companies in the in the world, is joining this celebration and has partnered with broadcast networks Discovery en Espanol and Discovery Familia to create a campaign “Momentos de Calidad” (Moments of Quality) – to encourage Hispanics to share those special moments of growing up in Latin America.

The partners promoted a contest online, asking people which memories from growing up in Latin America they yearned for. Mariela Sanchez, 28, from Kissimee, Florida, shared the first Moments of Quality: seeing her whole extended family, grandparents, siblings, uncles, and cousins, around the dinner table on Sundys.

The vivid picture that the Argentinean Mariela described of this typical ritual – everyone gathered at Grandma’s house eating the favourite local dish – speaks to Latinos of all nationalities. Mariela’s words made her the winner of a trip to Mexico and she was followed by a Discovery crew and with her husband and two daughters by her sides. The sites visited were recorded and some experiences and events were captured in video and can be seen in three 60 second segments on the two channels mentioned. On September 26 there was also a twitter party under the motto “A journey back to our Latin American Roots.
