Heritage floor of the Bremen Cotton Exchange restored

The Roll of Honour on the 4th floor of the Bremer Cotton Exchange has been restored to its former beauty and glory. The wood relief by artist Herbert Kubica serves as a memorial to the members of the Bremen cotton trade who fell during World War I. A total of 73 names of dealers, brokers and agents from Bremen are recorded. Kubica delivered the work of art to the Cotton Exchange in 1940, however the unveiling was quietly performed only in 1943. The wood relief was originally accompanied by a glass painting, created by Georg Rohde at the same time based on Kubica’s work, however the work was completed after the destruction of the window in World War II.
