German Karstadt opens second K Town-Store in Cologne (D)
K Town has been a pilot project of Karstadt in the German town of Göttingen since September 2011 and because of its success Karstadt has now opened on September 14, 2012 the second shop of that type in Cologne
The concept of K Town stores form part of the company’s strategy “Karstadt 2015” and is trendy and lifestyle oriented to address the new modern customer with a very juvenile lifestyle. The concept entails fashion, shoes and accessories in a trendy surrounding. The pilot was a stand-alone project whereas in Cologne the store is integrated in the Karstadt Department store on a surface of 2000 m2 on the ground floor. The ladies’ fashion brands offered are such as Desigual, Mavi, One Green Elephant and the Scandinavian label Gestuz and men’s wear present brands such as G-Star, Blend, Scotch & Soda and Superdry. Shoes present the newest trends from Lacoste, Camper, UGG und Co., and accessories such as from Pieces, Liebeskind or George, Gina & Lucy.
The design is reminding a Modern Art Gallery with screens, light installations and an open over five meter high ceiling and selling furniture giving the impression of art objects, all create a very particular atmosphere. The core of the store is a lounge sector inviting customers to relax with beverages and snacks. The tables have embedded touch pads and offer multi-media amusement during a shopping pause.
