British Fashion at American Nordstrom

Four days ago US Nordstrom began selling hot British Fashion, namely the brands TOPSHOP and TOPMAN apparel and accessories in-store and online, including a limited edition of pieces created especially for Nordstrom. An expanded merchandise selection is available at its website. There will be also a TOPSHOP Make-up collection in select stores and online in late 2012

Nordstrom (231 stores in 31 US states, including 117 full line stores, 110 Nordstrom Racks, two Jeffrey boutiques, one treasure&bond store and one clearance store) full-line stores featuring TOPSHOP and TOPMAN will be found across the USA. Two stores in California will carry TOPSHOP only. The departments of the store will feature mannequins, visual merchandising and store fixtures from the two brands and are located in high profile areas within the women’s and men’s apparel departments.

To inaugurate the two brands in Florida, there will be an official launch party on September 15, 2012 in Miami at Nordstrom Dadeland Mall and the first 200 customers will receive an exclusive gift and guests will enjoy DJ’s, modelling presentations, T-Shirt screen printing and a photo booth kiosk. The other participating 13 stores will also host fashion and styling parties for customers the same day. There will be an exclusive gift with the purchase of USD 100 or more in TOPSHOP or TOPMAN product, a sneak peek of the TOPSHOP Make-up collection, personal styling appointments and other activities.

A TOPSHOP and TOPMAN branded truck will visit popular city locations in Miami from September 8 – 12, before heading to Austin, Texas, wher4e it will hit the streets from September 28-30. Customers who spot the truck can receive a free TOPSHP/TOPMAN tote bag and bottled water. In addition, they can follow the truck’s journey from Miami to Austin on the Nordstrom blog “The Thread” and social media channels.

Nordstrom will also host an Instagram contest for customers to win the ultimate weekend in London (Great Britain), including a TOPSHOP/TOPMAN shopping spree. Customers are invited to Instagram their best photo of TOPSHOP and TOPMAN styling using “britishstyle to@nordstrom”.

TOPSHOP was launched in 1964 and became a major British style authority and one of fashion’s biggest success stories. In 1994, a TOPSHOP flagship store was born, as the brand took over a 90000 sq ft space at London Oxford Circus in the West End and is still considered the world’s largest fashion store on High Street, attracting over 200000 shoppers each week. In America there are flagship stores in New York, Chicago, Las Vegas and there will be one opening in Los Angeles, California in Spring 2013.

TOPSHOP is the only High Street brand to show on schedule at London Fashion Week (LFW), and has recently celebrated ten years of sponsoring New Gen – supporting young British designers and giving them a platform to show within LFW and promote their collections to the international press. It has extended its sponsorship of this scheme for a further ten years last February.

TOPSHOP is well known for the nurturing of young talent, including Christopher Kane, Meadham Kirchhoff, Hussein Chalayan, Richard Nicoll and Mary Kantrantzou. The boutique collection offers reworked future classics in luxurious fabrics with a focus on style rather than seasonal trends. All this sits alongside TOPSH0P’s trend-driven mainline, which includes glamorous going out pieces, footwear, accessories and an extensive selection of denim and jewellery. TOPSHOP has 319 stores in Great Britain and 137 international franchises operating in 37 countries. The US sites are fully owned flagships.

TOPMAN has earned its sartorial stripes with an unswerving, energetic approach to produce truly exciting High Street men’s fashion, driving trends forward while shifting the way men approach shopping. It is the brand’s attitude to create brilliant, affordable and authoritative means wear. It was founded in 1978 and has today 230 stores in Great Britain. Its London flagship store attracts 75000 customers a week and the brand’s website sees over 555000 visits weekly and ships to over 100 countries across the globe.

The two brands belong to the Arcadia Group owned by Sir Philip Green and his family and entails eight of the British best known fashion and High Street brands with totally 2500 outlets, and an international business trading in 37 countries and delivers on line to more than 110 countries worldwide. Recent key international openings were in Australia, Canada and Brazil. Sir Philip was bestowed with the International Retailer Award at the 2011 edition of the National Retail Federation’s annual convention.
