Additional filtration materials capacity in Italy completed
Ahlstrom (high performance materials; SF) has completed its investment of EUR 17.5 million in additional filtration materials at its site in Turin, Italy. It is ramping up its new saturator line (equipped with the latest control equipment to ensure consistent, clean and high quality media) that is expected to be operational during the third quarter of 2012 and slightly ahead of schedule
Ahlstrom sees in the completion an important step to fulfil its commitment to grow with its customers as a global supplier in the filtration market with a full offering of filter media, including the application of the state-of-the-art technology.
In the filtration materials are Ahlstrom declares itself as the global leader with 11 production sides across four continents. Earlier this yer, Ahlstrom announced that it has completed significant upgrades with various filtration testing and simulation equipment at its Global Filtration Technical Centre in Turin, Italy and they serve to offer new and innovative solutions to its global customers.
Ahlstrom has realised in the second quarter of 2012 less turnover than in the same period of 2011, it dropped from EUR 423.7 to EUR 413.2 million and operating profit fell from EUR 22.1 million to EUR 7.4 million therefore also operating margin decreased from 4.8 to 3.2 % and the net profit before taxes sank from EUR 14.3 million to meagre EUR 0.8 million. The half year result: net sales fell from EUR 846.2 to EUR 819.0 million, operating profit from EUR 41.6 to EUR 24.5 million and the operating margin from 4.7 % to 3.7 % and net profit before taxes from EUR 28.5 to EUR 13.2 million.
