Esprit names new Group CEO and Executive Director

On August 7, 2012 Esprit Holdings Ltd, Hong Kong has appointed José Manuel Martinez Gutiérrez (42) as new Group CEO and Executive Director. He will take the helm on or before the end of September 2012

The new CEO and Executive Director Martinez was holding various senior positions with Spanish Inditex (Zara) and most recently he was Group Director of Distribution and Operations where he was responsible for a new commercial distribution model and strategy and the nucleus was to deliver consistent positive growth for Inditex over several consecutive years. Prior to that he was the Country Manager for the Zara brand across Scandinavia where he had top and bottom line accountability. Before joining Inditex, Martinez spent eight years at McKinsey & Company where he led the firm’s retail and consumer goods practice in Spain.

For the record, the former Esprit CEO Ronald Van Der Vis and another top shot had unexpectedly and suddenly left Esprit because of bad results for the fashion company.

Esprit is one of the most well-known apparel brands in the world, offering smart, youthful, affordable luxury fashion. The group operates more than 1000 directly managed worldwide retail stores and distributes its products via more than 11000 wholesale locations internationally, occupying a total selling space of over one million m2 worldwide.
