Less performing Italian Textile Machinery Market

The Italian umbrella association of textile machinery manufacturers ACIMIT has conducted a new survey among its members and reports stable business from April to June 2012 in comparison to the first quarter of this year but cautions that the domestic important market for textile machinery is in a critical situation

The index of orders for textile machinery and for the second quarter of the ongoing year settled at 100.7 points (2005=100), representing a modest gain of 3 % over the first quarter 2012. If compared to the same period of 2011 there is a decrease of 22 % and the tendency is set for a further downturn.

Foremost the decline results because order intake is falling in the domestic market and its index value was down to 67.9 % or a decrease of 23 % against the first quarter of 2012. The index for foreign order intake however rose 6 % or to 110.4 points in the second quarter compared to the first quarter of 2012 and remains below the peak achieved in the first quarter of 2011. In Italy the continuous economic uncertainty persists and prevents investment decisions also in the foreseeable future.
