A new sustainable water repellent technology
Swiss specialty chemical company Clariant is launching a new sustainable water repellent technology with focus on outdoor markets offering outstanding advantages
The company is launching the new fluorine-free water repellent Arkophob® FFR, developed through intensive R&D efforts and is – according to in-house information – unmatched by equivalent fluorine-free products already on the market. It offers an efficient alternative to conventional fluorocarbon-based repellents. The new product is close to C6 fluorchemicals and needs no recovery after laundering and ironing becomes unnecessary. Arkophob® FFR has a wash resistance of more than 20 washes, a better resistance to abrasion and tear and it can be better sown. It has a pleasant and soft touch and no impact on the breathability of the fabric. The new product can be applied to fabrics of a wide range of outdoor, leisure and sportswear applications. As we all know Clariant is committed to assist brands, retailers and textile manufacturers in adopting more sustainable operations and processes and is thus also a member of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, the Textile Exchange and is a System Partner of bluesign® the sustainability standard.
