Clariant is evaluating strategic options for business units

Swiss internationally operating specialty chemicals company Clariant is inclined to sustainably increase the quality and performance of its product portfolio and to evaluate strategic options for some business units such as Textile Chemicals, Paper Specialties and Emulsions as well as Detergents and Intermediates

At the Capital Markets & Media Day in Munich (D) the audience was provided with the newest developments. Clariant’s CEO Hariolf Kottmann and CFO Patrick Jany explained the measures to reach the before mentioned targets by 2015. It was made clear that the strategic options such as for Textile Chemicals and before mentioned others are an important prerequisite, because the newly aligned Clariant will be even more profitable and will generate more than 70 % of its sales from non-cyclical business units. These options should take place within the next 18 months. There was no light thrown on details and we expect for Textile Chemicals being extremely cyclical that it will be rather sold off or to be traded in against a less cyclical business.
