Closure of Spanish filtration plant

Finnish Ahlstrom (filters, medical gowns and drapes, wallcoverings, flooring, labels and food packaging) has announced on May 31, 2012 that it plans to close its plant for advanced and transportation filtration in Barcelona, Spain because the business was decreasing because of the weakening demand in Southern Europe and about 30 employees will be affected starting from the second half of 2012. It is one of the smallest production units (equipped with a saturator and a converter unit for materials used in transportation and advanced filtration) in Ahlstrom’s filtration business. Customers will be served from other plants. The company will help employees to successfully manage the change.
