Mexico to introduce textile reference prices

In order to discourage unfair competition on imported textiles, apparel and footwear Mexico is introducing reference prices for such goods

In 2011 68 % of imported textile, apparel and footwear products imported from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and others entered the Mexican border at prices lower than the cost of raw materials used to manufacture these items. In order to eliminate such practise Mexico’s Tax Administration Service has set up a reference price system entailing 413 positions for textile products and 59 for footwear. Details will not be officially published and importers will have no access.
