Italian customers ordered increasingly domestic textile machinery
Italian textile machinery manufacturers received markedly more orders from Italian than from global customers during the first quarter of 2012
According to ACIMIT the umbrella Association of Italian textile machinery manufacturers reports that their members order intake in the first quarter of 2012 and compared with the last quarter of 2011 increased by two percent and reaching an index value of 91.2 points. At peak time in the first quarter of 2011 the global index amounted to over 170 points. The index for the Italian market now increased by 34 %, in peak time he was over140 points is now over 100 points, whereas orders from all other areas dropped by one percent and orders from major markets such as China and India are slowing down. One thing is clear that the Italian textile machinery manufacturers need global orders of size and the domestic business is not large enough to compensate for missing or decreasing export business.
For the time being, mostly because of the economic and debt crisis it is very difficult to predict how the Italian machinery industry will perform in the following quarters of this year.
