Highlights of the 13th Chemnitz Textile Conference
Tomorrow March 15 the two days 13th Chemnitz Textile Conference will take place at the Technical University of Chemnitz. We throw a bit light at some of the highlights
In the traditional textile and engineering are of Chemnitz exists a unique cluster of research, manufacturing and education with the aim to develop new textile processes and plants to facilitate the manufacturing of high tech composites and innovative light weight components. As a recent result – details will be revealed at the conference – we cite the new fibre spreading line to manufacture light weight components developed jointly by Cetex the institute for textile processing machinery and German Karl Mayer Malimo Textilmaschinenfabrik, Chemnitz. Cetex was formed as central engineering R&D unit of ex Eastern Germany and was newly founded in 1990 to become one of the most efficient partner for applied research. Among regular users are besides Karl Mayer also Oerlikon Barmag, a subsidiary of Oerlikon Textile and Terrot (knitting machines). The focus is on process and material developments for endless fibre reinforced semi finished products and complex preforms as well as the necessary manufacturing machines and the regarding concept to test the results under industrial conditions.
