Guangzhou curbs individual foreign retail real estate deals

Guangzhou (PRC) is dedicated to enforce existing laws forbidding foreign individuals from buying real estate and this as of March

Guanghzou is a thriving southern Chinese city but is facing the problem that retail property prices jumped 30 % in 2011 as against 2010. Such restrictions are not new but have not been extensively respected by local officials. Such curbing measures were introduced by national legislation in 2006 and 2010 but not followed strictly in Guangzhou thus foreigners snapped up primary store locations. The enforcement has to be seen in the context that official China was 2010 introducing a campaign to tame residential property prices and individual investors and real estate developers moved into the less regulated commercial real estate sector. Guangzhou has had a tremendous influx of legal business such s clothing and luxury retailers leading to soaring prices for space.
