Managed colour in the “Cloud”

Since Cloud Computing is gaining importance by more and more companies, Pantone and X-Rite have unveiled recently PantoneLIVETM, a cloud based colour service providing instant access to essential brand colour standards

The new product is the first one launched by the newly created division of X-Rite Pantone Digital Business unit (headed by Dr. Sonia Megert) and is according to in-house information a quasi by-product of Pantone’s expertise as the world’s colour authority and X-Rites’s colour science and technology leadership.

PantoneLIVE is connected to a large portfolio of software, containing real-world color data for hundreds of thousands of colours and is supported by the latest colour measurement technology.

Any ink manufacturer may take (to be paid for) advantage of PantoneLIVE, but Sun Chemical is the preferred ink partner and Esko (global supplier of integrated solutions for packaging, sign and display finishing, commercial printing and professional publishing) is also a preferred partner as well as Windmöller & Hölscher (flexographic central impression and rotogravure printing presses) is a technology partner serving the flexible packaging industry and the company will extend the capability of their EASY COL on-press colour matching solution to incorporate access to PantoneLIVE and this technology will be integrated into Esko’s solutions.
