Continued WTO cotton consultations
The Doha Round within WTO World Trade Organization was not crowned with success but the talks on cotton continues and they have also a new chairman
On November 18 New Zealand Ambassador John Adank was named new chairperson and the negotiators took knowledge of his report on consultations about a proposed ministerial decision on cotton at the coming up Ministerial Conference (December 15 – 17, 2011). Several member countries supported the Cotton-4 proposal from Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad and Mali and underlined that they will continue consultations. Ambassador Adank continues consultations early 2012 after the known results of the Ministerial Conference where some decisions on cotton will be taken.
