The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the creation of a joint venture by Mitsubishi Corporation of Japan and Wallenius Wihelmsen ASA of Norway.
The joint venture will be active in inland finished vehicle logistics in Thailand. Mitsubishi Corporation develops and operates businesses across several industries, including environmental and infrastructure businesses, industrial finance, energy, metals, machinery, chemicals and food. Wallenius Wihelmsen is a provider of shipping and vehicle logistics, managing the distribution of cars, trucks, rolling equipment and breakbulk to customers all over the world. The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, as the joint venture has no actual or foreseen activity within the European Economic Area.
