The start of the ITMF Annual Conference 2019 in Porto, Portugal

TextileFuture will report directly ad hoc on the ITMF International Textile Manufacturers Federation in Porto, Portugal taking place from October 20 – 22, 2019, under the motto “Digitalisation & Sustainability – their impact on the global textile industry”.

The first day programme on October 20, 2019

The joint cotton Committee Meeting is headed by Chairman Nick Earlam from Plexus (UK) and offering solutions to the Re-Inventing the End of Life of Cotton Textiles to Deisgn More Eco-Responsible Products, a speech delivered by Pascal Denizart from CETI, France. It will be followed by a Panel Discussion: Recycling of Textiles Small Niche or Big Trend.

The Fibre Session on Cotton will present under the moderator Andrew G. Macdonald, ITMF Brazil “Opportunities to Build Cotton Demand, a speech  by Gary Adams, National Cotton Council, USA, and the one by Kai Hughes, ICAC, USA  “Sustainable Cotton in the Supply Chain – the challenges and the way forward”. Followed by a speech by Jeff Elder, Oritain Global, USA “Transparency and Traceability. Why they need to be Partners”.

The manmade fibre session will have a speech by Bruna Angel, WoodMackenzie, UK, on “Recycled Fibres Take on the Polyester Tsunami  Surfing the Wave or Drowning? Then follows the speech by Robert van de Kerkhof from Lenzing, Austria, titled “Commitment to Improve”, to be followed by Uday Gill, Fibres Business, Indorama Ventures, Thailand, on “Strategic Innovation Imperative. Then a panel discussion session is to follow.

Later on, and under the Moderator Peter Gnägi, ITMF Switzerland “The first results after the launch of SLCP in several countries will be measured by Holly Menezes, SLCP, Netherlands will show the “Adoption of the SLCP-Converged Assessment framework – A report from a Brand, delivered by Caner Soytas, Nike, Turkey. Then follows the same theme from the viewpoint of a manufacturer, namel Fatma Hüseyinca, Yesim, Turkey and concluding is a panel discussion.

The HTP Committee Meeting will deliver under Chairman, Zhoahua Yang, CNTAC, China, a “Global Home Textile Market Outlook from Fibre2Fashion, India. Jialing Zhu , Dearshiquiao International Home Textiles, China, speaks on Dearshiquiao Home Textile Market and International Cooperation. And ITMNF HTP Committee Satellite Office in Nantong, China, Zaohua Yang, will give further details. These speeches will be followed by a question and answering session.
