Everlane partners up with Bluesign

Everlane has partnered with Bluesign to build on the brand’s transparent values and has put sustainability front and center of its responsible business.

Partnering with Bluesign is the next direct step towards transparency and trust. Everlane denim is made at the world’s cleanest factory, Saitex, which recycles 98% of its water, runs on alternative energy and repurposes by-products. Meanwhile, the Clean Silk collection is produced at a leading LEED-certified and bluesign® SYSTEM PARTNER factory, where all silk will be dyed and washed with 100 % recycled water and 100 % renewable energy by 2022. In October 2018, Everlane announced its commitment to eliminating all virgin plastic from its supply chain by 2021.

“Everlane is rooted in transparency and we have always been mindful of our impact on the environment through the materials and processes we use. With our recent commitment to eliminating virgin plastic from our supply chain by 2021, we are now even more disciplined about the suppliers with whom we choose to work. Partnering with Bluesign will ensure that we are working with the cleanest materials possible and advancing toward reducing our environmental impact. Together, we can lead the change towards an honest and sustainable supply chain,” said Kimberley Smith, General Manager of Apparel at Everlane.

“We are honoured to have Everlane join us as a SYSTEM PARTNER. I have watched Everlane evolve over the years and am impressed by their practice of radical transparency, which aligns perfectly with the blue way. We are proud they have chosen Bluesign as one of their partners for their sustainability journey.” said Jill Dumain, Chief Executive Officer at bluesign technologies ag.

Everlane launched online in November 2011 with the mission to provide consumers with well-designed, high-quality clothing and accessories at an approachable price point while simultaneously encouraging them to stay informed and educated on product origins. By cutting out the middleman and sharing the true cost and markup of each product, Everlane has become a distinguished leader in the transparent retail space and a disruptor of the luxury clothing industry. Everlane currently works with 35 factories and has two flagship stores in San Francisco’s Mission District and New York City’s SoHo.

The bluesign® SYSTEM is the key to a sustainable textile production. bluesign technologies ag was founded in 2000. Since then, the bluesign® SYSTEM has been adopted by worldwide leading textile and accessory manufacturers. Various significant key players in the chemical and machine industry rely on the bluesign® SYSTEM.
