With Singer-Songwriter James Blunt and the Swiss Pop- and Soul-Queen Stefanie Heinzmann live on stage the Swiss Top-Event “Art on Ice” will present a new show from February 7 – 17, 2019 in Zurich, Lausanne, Davos and Basel (all Switzerland)
Art on Ice represents art up to the smalles details, each jump and note, but also each costume has to fit perfectly. As costume partner of Art on Ice acts BERNINA Switzerland, the prime sewing and embroidery machine manufacturer. Responsible for the design and manufacture of the costumes are Giuliana Savari and the STF, the Swiss Textile College. STF creates costume for the Art on Ice Skaters Sofia Sforza and Elladj Baldé. In charge for these costumes for Art on Ice are Marcella Camenzind, Producer & Production Manager, and for STF Dorothea Nicolai (teacheress) and Buyankhishig Tumurbaatar (student Fashion Designer).
For Buyankhishig Turmurbaatar a dream becomes real with this project. It was a love affair to sew costumes for figure and dancing skaters, pieces responding to the high conditions of fit and freedom of movement. At the same, the costumes offer an artistic expression for each theme.
Dorothea Nicolai states: “I am thrilled that a student of STF accompanies as coach the realisation of such an important and meaningful project, and under contribution of my know-how. In the actual production, I like the lovingly sense of humour from Cirque Elize – and the aesthetics by Steampunk.”
As of August 2019, interested parties with enthusiasm for stage, theatre, film and costumes, with necessary sewing knowhow, can follow a study to become dipl. Technologists in HF Textile with a focus Stage & Scenery Fashion at STF. Students experience and learn in this part time study, and also from Dorothea Nicolai, how costumes, scenery, room and atmosphere are created. They incorporate the trade and scientific talents to realize and transform ideas in dramaturgy, room and forms for theatre stages, opera, film and TV production, fashion shows or fashion compositions.
