ITMF Board Elections at Annual Conference 2018 in Nairobi, Kenya for term 2018-2020

Mr. Kihak Sung (Korea Rep.) elected as new ITMF President

On September 8, 2018 during the Annual Conference 2018 of ITMF, the International Textile Manufacturers Federation in Nairobi/Kenya, the Committee of Management of the Federation elected the members of the Board for the period 2018-2020.

Mr. Kihak Sung (Korea Rep.) was unanimously elected as the new President of the Federation. He was Born on July 8, 1947, in Korea.

The Korea Federation of Textile Industries (KOFOTI) is the national federation of all textile-related industries, with 27 textile industrial associations. It is a non-profit organization whose main duty is supporting and promoting the development of Korea’s textile industry.

Further elections

Mr. Ruizhe Sun (China) and Mr. K.V. Srinivasan (India) were elected as Vice Presidents of the Federation.

Mr. Heinz Michel (Switzerland) was elected as the new Treasurer.

Mr. Loek de Vries (The Netherlands) and Mr. Rafael Cervone (Brazil) were re-elected as Board Members.

The Committee of Management elected Mr. Mohammad Kassem (Egypt), Mr. Juan Parès (Spain) and Mrs. Michelle Tjokrosaputro (Indonesia) as new Board Members.

Mr. Peter Gnägi (Switzerland), Mr. Andrew Macdonald (Brazil), Mr. John Cheh (Hong -Kong, China) and Mr. Muharrem Kayhan (Turkey) were co- opted as Board Members.

Mr. Jaswinder Bedi (Kenya) was appointed Honorary Life Member of the Federation in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Federation as Vice President (2012-2016) and ITMF President (2016-2018).

The 2019 edition of ITMF’s Annual Conference is scheduled for October 20 – 22 in Porto, Portugal.

BASF Plastic Additives Middle East (PAME), the state-of-the-art production facility for customer-specific antioxidant blends (CSB) in Bahrain, named Michael Wille its new Managing Director.

The appointment marks an important step in BASF’s support of the fast-growing polymer industry in the Middle East. As the leading manufacturer and supplier of plastic additives in the region, BASF plans to continue to boost the local production of CSB – additive blends tailored to meet specific customer needs. CSB are an integral part of the portfolio the company offers to the plastics industry.
