Launch of the Global Innovation Index 2023 on September 27
The launch event of WIPO’s Global Innovation Index (GII) will happen on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.During this event, we’ll reveal who is leading in global innovation, ranking the innovation performance of 132 economies and highlighting their strengths and weaknesses. The 2023 edition takes the pulse of innovation against a background of an economic and geopolitical environment fraught with uncertainty.

Our global launch event will feature Prime Ministers from Estonia and Sweden, Ministers from Botswana and Mexico, business leaders, venture capitalists, and innovation experts.

The event will kick off with a presentation of key findings from GII 2023, followed by a panel discussion on the theme “Innovation in the face of uncertainty.”

  • Is the current global turbulence resulting from inflation, rising interest rates and geopolitical conflict affecting the level and nature of innovation?
  • Is innovation slowing down or accelerating and how can this be evaluated in the aftermath of a global pandemic?
  • How has the innovation performance of developed and developing economies fared throughout this period and what is needed for further progress going forward?
