ARTIST’S LACE – A lace of tears with wet and crystalline effect!

For the autumn-winter of 2019, the dentellier pushes emotion to a climax, presenting its now iconic Chantilly lace “Tears & Lace” coated with a primer that gives an effect of being shrouded in fine mist. More mysterious than ever …

In 2016, Maison Darquer inaugurated its first Artist’s lace inspired by contemporary works of art, reinterpreting the work of American artist Rose-Lynn Fisher, who photographs tears under a microscope. Named “Tears & Lace”, the Leavers Chantilly lace collection created in this way reproduces the crystalline and organic designs revealed in the artist’s photographs of tears. This unprecedented, poetic and elegant lace is certain to thrill couturiers.

There are a multitude of condensed blacks in this wet-looking lace … The black of night, the black sheen of asphalt in the rain, the ceremonial black of gala dress, the black of drunkenness, the black of tulle and the black of latex … As many angles of vision as interpretations for the designers for whom this enigmatic lace is intended!

For the fall-winter of 2019, under the guidance of Stephane Plassier and artist Rose-Lynn Fisher, Darquer, adds a new dimension to this collection, transposing a light black glaze on the tulle, coating it with a wet and shimmering effect, creating an aura of mystery; the darkness of night, the sheen of asphalt in the rain, the black of formal ceremony, the blackout of drunkenness, the blackness of tulle or of latex – a black that remains open to interpretation, in a lace decidedly charged with emotions, through the finesse of the Dentelier’s work.

This collection will be previewed in July at the Interfilière Paris show in the Darquer pavillion 3 n° D61. The City of Lace and Fashion of Calais presents a creation from the house of Schiaparelli realized with Tears & Lace as part of the exhibition “Haute Dentelle” which takes place from June 9, 2018 to January 6, 2019.

Founded in 1840, Darquer creates and produces Leavers lace collections in Calais.

It is the oldest lace factory in Calais, and Caudry (France). The refinement of the brand since 1840 is matched only by its historical creativity entirely dedicated to Haute Couture, then to Ready-to-Wear and more recently to Luxury Lingerie. In 2016, Maison Darquer launched a new collection ‘Les Dentelles d’Artistes’ initiated with American artist Rose-Lynn Fisher, followed in 2018 with new creations by artist Joana Vasconcelos.

Maison Darquer has also opened a showroom in the centre of Paris, France.
