The OECD will release official development assistance (ODA) statistics for 2022 at 09:00 EST / 15:00 CET on Wednesday 12 April, 2023
Journalists are invited to an online presentation of the data and underlying trends with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann, OECD Development Co-operation Director Pilar Garrido and OECD Development Assistance Committee Chair Carsten Staur. The 30-minute presentation will be followed by a 15-minute Q&A.

The OECD’s aid statistics track official flows from DAC donors to developing countries. Preliminary ODA data are released each April and this year’s will include detail on humanitarian aid in Ukraine and elsewhere, ODA spent on refugees in donor countries, COVID-19 spending and flows to least-developed countries and Africa. Final ODA figures with a detailed geographic and sectoral breakdown are released at the end of the year.
Since 2018, ODA statistics have been expressed on a “grant equivalent” basis, allowing for a more realistic comparison between grants, which make up the bulk of ODA, and loans. Before that, loans were expressed on a “cash basis”, meaning their full face value was included then repayments were subtracted as they came in. The grant-equivalent methodology, a fairer way of measuring donor effort, means only the “grant portion” of the loan, i.e. the amount actually “given” by lending below market rates, counts as ODA.
