Swiss FINMA Board of Directors: Reappointment of Vice-Chair

During its meeting on December 16, 2022, the Federal Council reappointed Martin Suter, the Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA), for a further term of office.

Martin Suter was elected to the FINMA Board of Directors with effect from January 1, 2018, and appointed as Vice-Chair with effect from January 1, 2021. During its meeting on 16 December 2022, the Federal Council confirmed his reappointed as Vice-Chair for a further two-year term of office.

Martin Suter has a degree in Mathematics from the ETH Zurich and spent the early part of his career at UBS and Credit Suisse, among others. Between 1999 and 2016, he was employed in a variety of roles at Swiss Life Zurich, latterly as the CFO for Switzerland and as a member of the Swiss management.

Subject to Martin Suter’s re-election as a member of the Board of Directors as part of the general board elections, the Vice-Chair’s term of office will run from  January 1, 2023 to December 3, 2024.
